The lavish 'Beautiful Suite' was somewhat overshadowed by the limited dining options nearby, and to make matters worse, the host seemed to forget about my request for a complimentary upgrade. It's sad, really, as I almost thought it'd be worth a good review, but alas, my expectations fell flat here. Such a disappointment, .

The location was amazing and particularly good, right by bunratty or surrounding areas, Noel's very excellent restaurant in the Bentley, and the local pub or restaurant. It also was to Shannon airport. The breakfasts were complementary and delicious with ham and pastries, as for instance and the staff were amicable, did not rush us.

Luxurious suite with tasteful antique furniture with a spacious layout. Large double four-poster bed adding a unique touch to the overall experience.
Limited activities in the surrounding area aside from the castle, which might leave some feeling a bit isolated. A rental car is essential since the nearest town with several dining options is a 5-minute drive away from the hotel.

We found the quintessential hosts in Catherine & Kevin at The Carriage Houses. Its bucolic setting, a mere 10-minute drive from Shannon Airport and Bunratty Castle, was a welcome respite for weary travelers. Two thumbs way up!
Not having more time to enjoy.

It was a really lovely experience in a good old hotel. The breakfast was fresh made - a lot of meals - toast, eggs, meats and cheese. I had spotless, large room complete with coffee, a very comfortable bed. Location: the property was next to the village for dinner, the bus stop and Bunratty Castle, king John's Castle, and Cliffs of Moher.

The Carriage Houses served up generous breakfast provisions and a good experience with great decor and spacious accommodations. Catherine, our extraordinary host, checked in every day. Plus, that coffee was just what we needed!
Everything was great! We were just a tad disappointed that the outdoor spa wasn't operational . But honestly, with so much charm everywhere, it was hardly a dealbreaker.
